I would like to share with you where I did my Yoga and Meditation training and what my experiences have been, being on the path of a Yogi and mindful being in this world.

It was from July 2001 till August 2001 in Val Morin (Quebec) in Canada where I did my training. It is the most authentic Yoga program I know with the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center to become a Hatha Yoga Teacher.

Hatha yoga is the most widely practiced form of yoga in America. It is the branch of yoga which concentrates on physical health and mental well-being. Hatha yoga uses bodily postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation (dhyana) with the goal of bringing about a sound, healthy body and a clear, peaceful mind. There are nearly 200 hatha yoga postures, with hundreds of variations, which work to make the spine supple and to promote circulation in all the organs, glands, and tissues. Hatha yoga postures also stretch and align the body, promoting balance and flexibility.

The Sivananda Yoga teachings are based on the 4 paths of Yoga and the 5 points of Yoga, you can read more here: https://www.sivananda.org/camp/about-us/our-teachings/

The Teacher Training Course (TTC) was a couple of intense weeks of living and learning together with other international students, having deep spiritual insights about the body, mind, and soul and feeling absolutely joyous about life and this future job I just learned. I couldn’t wait to teach others all that I had learned and share the bliss that comes from doing the yoga practice. I have to admit that; having no day off, getting up every day at 5.30am and going to bed at 10pm, doing yoga when the body didn’t always want to cooperate, teaching others, studying for exams, doing karma yoga and socialize with others was not an easy task, but it was worth it. I came out as a very different person.

Graduates of the course receive internationally recognized certification that is also accepted by the worldwide Yoga Alliance for the 200 hours standard for Registered Yoga Schools (RYS).

Teachers’ Training Course

As I have said, when I came back home I started teaching yoga to my family members, young and old, my students at school (I was a teacher at that time at a public school) and my fellow teachers. And I started my own in-home Hatha yoga classes. I had to adapt my apartment to a Yoga room, big enough for 5 people. Up until this day I practice yoga and meditation to keep my mind, body, and soul healthy.
